Community Guidelines

The short version

18+ only. Nudity, sexual content involving minors, and requests for either are removed on sight and reported to the authorities.
No unsolicited photos. Sending an explicit image to someone who did not ask for one is the fastest way to lose your access.
Report, do not retaliate. Every message, post, comment, and story has a report control. Three reports flag it. Five remove it.

1. Who this applies to

These guidelines cover every surface of Chat Tayo: one-on-one anonymous chat, public chat rooms, private PIN rooms, group chats, the Freedom Wall feed, stories, Sulat letters, Meet Tayo location pins, and Swap Tayo listings. You agree to them the moment you enter a nickname. Being anonymous to other users does not make you invisible to moderation.

2. What gets removed immediately

These do not go through the report threshold. A moderator removes them as soon as they are seen, and the account behind them loses access permanently.

  • Any sexual content involving a minor, or any attempt to solicit it
  • Credible threats of violence against a person or place
  • Sharing someone's real name, address, workplace, school, or phone number without their consent (doxxing)
  • Non-consensual intimate images, including screenshots of a private chat
  • Selling drugs, weapons, stolen goods, or accounts — including through Swap Tayo
  • Impersonating a real person, a business, or Chat Tayo staff

3. What gets removed after review

These depend on context, so they go to a human after they are flagged:

  • • Harassment, sustained insults, or following someone across rooms to bother them
  • • Hate speech targeting religion, ethnicity, gender, disability, or sexuality
  • • Spam, repeated link drops, and referral farming
  • • Scams, including “send load first” and fake Swap Tayo listings
  • • Graphic violence or gore posted for shock value
  • • Content encouraging self-harm or suicide

Talking about your own mental health is not a violation and will never be removed for that reason. The Freedom Wall exists partly for exactly that. What is removed is content that encourages someone else to hurt themselves.

4. How reporting works

Reporting is anonymous. The person you report is never told who reported them.

In chat

Long-press a message, or use the menu in the chat header, to report or block. Blocking ends the session immediately and you will not be matched with that person again.

On the Freedom Wall

Every post, comment, and story has a report control with a reason: spam, inappropriate, or harassment. The reason routes it to the right queue.

Automatic thresholds

Three separate reports flag content for review. Five hide it from the feed pending a decision. One person reporting repeatedly does not count more than once.

Rate limits

Posting is capped at 10 posts and 10 reports per hour, 20 stories per day. This blunts brigading in both directions — flooding the feed and flooding the report queue.

5. What happens to you

Consequences scale with what you did, not with how many times you were caught:

  • • Content removed. The post or message is taken down. You are not otherwise restricted.
  • • Temporary restriction. You can read but not post while a pattern is reviewed.
  • • Ban. Your device loses access to the app. Any unspent CCoin balance is forfeited, and pending cash-outs are cancelled.

Bans attach to the device, not the nickname. Changing your nickname does not reset anything.

6. If you think we got it wrong

Moderation at this scale makes mistakes, and an automatic threshold can be gamed by a coordinated group. If your content was removed or your access was restricted and you believe it was wrong, use the contact page and describe what happened. Appeals are read by a person.

7. If you are in danger

Chat Tayo is not an emergency service and nobody here is a crisis counsellor. In the Philippines:

  • • 911 — national emergency hotline
  • • 1553 — National Center for Mental Health crisis hotline (landline, toll-free)
  • • (02) 8893-7603 or 0917-800-1123 — In Touch Community Services crisis line, 24/7

If someone on Chat Tayo tells you they are about to hurt themselves, report the conversation and point them at these numbers. Do not try to handle it alone.

8. Changes

These guidelines change as the app does — new surfaces bring new ways to misuse them. Material changes are posted here with an updated date. Continuing to use Chat Tayo after a change means you accept the current version. See also our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
